How do I place an order?

Accepted Answer

Browse the shop, select your size, and click Add to Bag. When you're ready, head to your cart and proceed to checkout. We use Stripe for secure payment processing — your card details are never stored on our servers.

Question 2

Can I amend or cancel my order after placing it?

Orders are processed quickly, but if you contact us within 1 hour of placing your order we'll do our best to make changes. Email us at orders@takamajj.com with your order number. Once dispatched, orders cannot be amended.

Question 3

What payment methods do you accept?

Accepted Answer

We accept all major credit and debit cards including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay at checkout.

Question 4

Is my payment information secure?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment provider. We never see or store your full card details.

Question 5

Do you offer gift cards or discount codes?

Accepted Answer

We don't currently offer gift cards, but we do run occasional promotions. Follow us on Instagram or sign up to the journal to be the first to hear about any offers.

Question 6

How do I find my size?

Accepted Answer

Visit our Size Guide page for full measurement charts covering gis, rash guards, fight shorts, and t-shirts. If you're between sizes in a gi, we recommend sizing up to allow for a small amount of shrinkage after the first wash.

Question 7

Do Takama gis shrink after washing?

Accepted Answer

Our gis are pre-shrunk but may reduce by up to 2–3% after the first hot wash. We recommend washing in cold water on a gentle cycle and air drying to maintain the fit and colour.

Question 8

What sizes are available for Takama gis?

Accepted Answer

All Takama Essentials and Founders Collection gis are available in A1, A2, A3, A3L, and A4. If you are unsure of your size, please refer to our size guide or contact us directly.

Question 9

What is the weight of the gi fabric?

Accepted Answer

The Essentials GI uses a 450gsm pearl weave canvas — competition-grade and durable enough for daily training. The Founders Collection gi uses a premium 500gsm single weave for a slightly heavier, more structured feel.

Question 10

How long will my order take to arrive?

Accepted Answer

UK standard delivery takes 3–5 working days. UK express is 1–2 working days. EU orders typically arrive in 5–10 working days. International orders take 7–14 working days. See our full Shipping page for all rates and options.

Question 11

Do you offer free shipping?

Accepted Answer

Yes — standard UK shipping is free on all orders over £75. This is applied automatically at checkout.

Question 12

Will I receive a tracking number?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You'll receive a dispatch confirmation email with a tracking link as soon as your order leaves our warehouse. If you haven't received this within 2 working days, please check your spam folder or contact us.

Question 13

Do you ship internationally?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we ship worldwide. International orders may be subject to local import duties and taxes, which are the responsibility of the recipient. See our Shipping page for full details and rates.

Question 14

What is your returns policy?

Accepted Answer

We accept returns on any unworn, unwashed item in its original condition within 30 days of delivery. Contact us at returns@takamajj.com with your order number and we'll send you a prepaid returns label within 1 working day.

Question 15

Can I exchange for a different size?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. We offer a free size exchange on your first order. Get in touch with your order number and the size you need and we'll sort it out.

Question 16

What if my item arrives damaged or faulty?

Accepted Answer

If your item arrives damaged or develops a manufacturing fault within 90 days, contact us and we'll replace it or issue a full refund — no questions asked.

Question 17

How long do refunds take?

Accepted Answer

Once we receive your return, refunds are processed within 3–5 working days. The time it takes to appear in your account depends on your bank, but is typically 3–10 working days from processing.

Question 18

How should I wash my gi?

Accepted Answer

Machine wash cold (30°C max) on a gentle cycle. Do not tumble dry — air dry flat or on a hanger away from direct sunlight to preserve the weave structure and prevent excessive shrinkage.

Question 19

How do I care for my rash guard?

Accepted Answer

Machine wash cold, inside out, with similar colours. Do not use fabric softener as it degrades the stretch fibres. Air dry — do not tumble dry or iron.

Question 20

Will the embroidery fade over time?

Accepted Answer

Takama embroidery is stitched with high-tenacity thread rated for 100+ washes. Following the care instructions above will keep the gold detailing sharp for the life of the garment.
